Excited shoppers cheered as the opening of a new shoe shop was marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Deichmann welcomed its first customers – some of which have been queuing since 9am – to its second Suffolk store in Bury St Edmunds.
The shop opened at the former Peacocks in the arc Shopping Centre after a £600,000 renovation.
Today, customers will be able to enjoy 50 per cent off selected brands, with more offers and discounts during its launch party on Saturday.
The first 25 customers will receive a £25 voucher and there will be a chance to win free shoes in the store’s spin the wheel game, which will also have 10, 20 and 50 per cent discounts on selected brands.

“We’re are very excited,” said Nichola Hall, store manger. “Everyone has worked so hard this week – they been here since last Wednesday setting it all up.
“I think Bury’s High Street is very rare at the moment.
“It’s one of the few town’s that’s actually improving.
“You see most high streets in decline whereas Bury seems to be quite an up-and-coming town with Primark opening recently, so it seemed like a perfect location.
“I think Primark will also benefit the footfall and I think we’ve helped to fill a nice gap in the arc rather than having another empty unit.”
Peacocks closed in January.
There is also a Deichmann store in Ipswich.
