Shoppers were left stunned after spotting Hollywood star Jack Black out and about in Leeds over the weekend.
One fan, Daniel Hook, from Bramley, has spoke of the “surreal” moment he bumped into the School of Rock legend at a retail park in Kirkstall on Saturday. The star performed with his band, Tenacious D, on Saturday evening at the Leeds Arena but not before a leisurely outing to Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park with his family.
Daniel said he was gobsmacked when he spotted the star “just leisurely walking about”. He managed to snap a selfie with him and described him as “lovely”. The trainee plasterer said: “He looked at me and smiled and I said, ‘you’re Jack Black!’. I was amazed there was nobody stopping him and no fuss or anything. He shook my hand twice and he was lovely and very relaxed.

“He was happy to have a picture, he said to me when I was getting my phone out ‘you were wally goggling’, which means dawdling, he then said he’s a ‘wally goggler too’ in his American accent.”
Asked how he felt to meet such a big star, Daniel added: “He’s a big presence and it was all a bit surreal, my biggest memory of him was ‘School of Rock’ and I’ve always liked his films.
“To be honest, I’m never going to meet anyone more famous than him. My partner Laura didn’t believe me when I told her who I’d just met!” And clearly Jack himself had a lovely day too announcing later on at the gig “I had such a nice stroll up your canal, I saw a swan there!” to rapturous applause from the crowd.
