Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood have separated after 10 years of marriage.

The TV presenter confirmed the shocking news with a statement, writing to her 3.9million Instagram followers: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage.’

She added: ‘Our priority has been, and will always be, our children.

‘We ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.’

Fearne, 43, married Jesse, 48, who is the son of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, in July 2014.

Their intimate London ceremony was attended by celebrities and colleagues, including Holly Willoughby, McBusted, Keith Lemon, and Denise Van Outen.

The former Top Of The Pops host met Jesse on a girls’ holiday to Ibiza in 2011, where a friend at a restaurant introduced them to one another.

They welcomed their first child, a son named Rex, in February 2013, and, in February 2015, Fearne announced that she was expecting a second child, which contributed to her reasons for leaving BBC Radio 1.

In September of that year, she announced that she had given birth to a daughter, Honey.

Fearne and Jesse celebrated a decade of marriage this summer with a romantic online post, having dug out their wedding outfits to recreate a photo.

Alongside the picture, which saw them holding hands and looking at each other sweetly, Fearne wrote: ‘If it’s good enough for the Beckhams.
It’s our wedding anniversary too.

’10 years today. And we are back in our wedding outfits (not purple) and @jessejameswood can’t locate the shoes.’

The pair were clearly inspired by David and Victoria Beckham, who marked their own anniversary by donning the iconic purple outfits of 1999, 25 years after exchanging vows.

In 2019, podcaster Fearne admitted that ‘marriage takes work’ as she put to bed any rumours that she and Jesse were having relationship problems.

It came two months after she confessed to going through a rough patch, which she wrote about in her Red Magazine column.

Fearne then told The Daily Telegraph: ‘I wrote that article to go, “What a load of s**t.” Every marriage takes work. It doesn’t dilute our love or make our marriage any weaker; it actually makes it stronger because we’re willing to have those conversations.’

The ex-Celebrity Juice panellist added that Jesse’s older children, Lola, 18, and Arthur, 21, from his marriage to first wife Tilly, were part of the reason for clearing up the split rumours.

She said: ‘My teenage stepchildren are old enough to scour the internet freely, and I just thought, I don’t want them reading that and thinking Jesse and I are having struggles and haven’t told them, because we’re an extremely honest family.

‘I’m happy to share the good and bad bits of myself because, of course, I’m not living this perfect, fairytale life.’

Fearne previously spoke about feeling ‘very ill-equipped’ to become a stepmother at the age of 29.

Speaking on Kate Ferdinand’s Blended podcast in 2022, she was asked what makes a good step-parent.

‘I would hate to ever come across as someone saying, “I’ve totally smashed this one” and tell you how to do it. I’m still working it out,’ she replied.

‘But ultimately, when all four children are together and getting on, those are the best times. Lean into all of it. You just need to lean into the good bits to charge yourself up.’

Jesse has publicly heaped praise on Fearne’s parenting, declaring her an ‘amazing mother’.

Fearne’s divorce statement comes just days after she announced that she had a benign jaw tumour.

After undergoing surgery, she issued an update to her fans, writing on social media on December 5: ‘Operation went really well. Recovering and resting. Thanks so much for all the kind messages.’

She initially said she would be ‘out of action for a bit’ due to surgery, explaining: ‘I felt a lump under my ear on my jawline a while ago now but this year noticed it was growing.

‘Turns out it’s a benign tumour and another small one above it on the saliva gland.

‘I’m feeling positive about it all and will take the opportunity to rest and slow right down.’

She also urged fans to take their health seriously and check out anything amiss with a doctor.

‘If you feel a lump or bump or feel like something is a bit off, always go get it checked.’
