ALL EYES ON YIBO: The multidisciplinary Chinese star Wang Yibo has been named a global brand ambassador for Loewe.
His first official engagement with Loewe will be to attend the brand’s spring 2025 men’s fashion show in Paris on Saturday.
Expect hundreds of dedicated fans, many of whom would travel across Europe for the opportunity to get a glimpse of Wang in person, chanting his name outside the venue.
Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson, who visited Shanghai for the “Crafted World” exhibition in March, said of Wang: “Not only has he achieved global recognition as a singer and dancer, he’s also exploring new territories including acting, motorcycle racing and fashion — we love this multifaceted approach to creativity and how much it resonates with Loewe’s own prismatic identity.”
Wang, who received industrywide recognition for his performance in the espionage thriller “Hidden Blade” last year, said the Spanish luxury brand represents “a relentless pursuit of craft and bold aesthetics.”
“Anderson infuses the collections with so much humour from everyday life while drawing inspiration from the art world, which creates a unique visual language. I’m looking forward to joining Loewe and creating many more remarkable moments together,” added Wang, who is also a promotion ambassador for the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai.
Wang started his career as a member of the K-pop boy band Uniq, and has gone on to become one of China‘s most marketable male stars with more than 40 million followers on Weibo. His name logs more than 280 billion impressions on Weibo, and 6.4 billion views on Xiaohongshu.
In his role as the global brand ambassador, Wang joins famed Chinese actress Yang Mi, K-pop sensation Taeyong, a member and leader of South Korean boy band NCT, as well as Josh O’Connor, Taylor Russell, Jamie Dornan and Greta Lee.
Wang also serves as a brand ambassador for Chanel, Lacoste, Shu Uemura, Chinese sportswear giant Anta and Audi, among others.
