Echoing Sean Dyche’s summer campaign last year, when the Blues’s first team travelled to Football League opposition in Stoke City, Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers, the side will have several away games in relatively close proximity. The trip to Coventry will see a reunion with striker Ellis Simms, who was sold to the Sky Blues last summer and almost took them to an FA Cup final this year. League Two Salford’s squad includes former Blues Conor McAleny and Luke Garbutt while Everton played a crucial role in kickstarting Preston boss Ryan Lowe’s successful career as a player.
The fixtures will see the first team play:
-
Saturday, July 27: Salford City at the Peninsula Stadium (3pm)
-
Tuesday, July 30: Coventry City, at the Coventry Building Society Arena (7.45pm)
-
Saturday, August 3: Preston North End, at Deepdale (3pm)
The club said ticketing and broadcast details will be confirmed on the club’s website in due course.
