An event promising a unique glimpse of Redditch’s past, featuring never-before-seen archive material, will be held next month.
The celebration of the Archives of Redditch New Town project will take place at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on 14 September.
It will mark the completion of Worcestershire County Council’s work to catalogue the records of the Redditch Development Corporation.
The project aims to shed light on the transformation of Redditch since it was designated one of the country’s new towns in 1964.
The event will also showcase the town’s industrial heritage, including when it was a centre for producing items like fishhooks and motorbikes.
Archivist Vicky Fletcher said it was a “fantastic project” to be a part of, adding that the records collected provided a unique insight into the process of urban and public health planning.
The event will take place from 10:00 to 16:00 BST.
