Parts of Europe are likely to bake at 31C sunshine as the latest weather maps have turned bright red for popular tourist destinations such as Italy, Greece, and Spain.

Maps from WXCharts suggest that Greece and Spain may witness soaring temperatures of 31C and 29C on October 10 respectively.

The latest weather maps come as many European countries go through unsettled weather conditions.

Holidaymakers in Greece are being warned to brace for a turbulent weekend as Storm Cassandra approaches. Severe weather warnings are in place, with rain, thunder and lightning predicted.

However, Brits heading to Spain and Greece are most likely to see warmer temperatures as the popular destinations witness drier conditions.

According to the weather maps, areas in Greece are likely to scorch at 31C on October 10.

Generally, in central Greece (Athens), average air temperatures range from 18C to 24C, while average lows range from 11C to 16C.

Southern Greece and islands (Crete, Santorini, Mykonos) are the warmest Greek regions in October, with the air temperatures reaching up to 25C.

The balmy conditions are predicted to last throughout the weekend, with Murcia expecting highs of 34C on Sunday.

The popular Costa Blanca will also enjoy pleasant temperatures, with Alicante and Benidorm both forecasted to reach 29C this weekend.

The summer-like temperatures will extend to Portugal, especially Lisbon, as well as North Africa, including Morocco and Algeria, weather maps suggest.
