So can England dust themselves down, regroup and finally make their mark on Euro 2024?
It is fair to say that, by hook or by crook, Gareth Southgate’s side have landed in the more favourable half of the knockout draw, with Germany, France, Portugal, Spain and Belgium all on the other side of the last-16.
So what is their possible route to the final?
