I do think the FA Cup final gave an indication of what Manchester United are capable of under Erik ten Hag.
It created discussion around that in the performance review, which has taken over two weeks.
The word is that the club have considered all eventualities, which presumably means either keeping or getting rid of him, and the clear decision was to keep him.
Beyond that they are now going to talk about an extension to his contract.
The interesting thing will be – because Ten Hag has one year left – if and when that contract materialises next season and whether Manchester United perform better than last season, when they finished eighth – the worst performance of the Premier League era.
That, I would imagine, will determine Ten Hag’s long-term future.
