The first fixture of England Men’s summer takes place on Wednesday evening for their final series before they head to the West Indies for next month’s T20 World Cup.
A number of Michael Mott’s side have been plying their trade in the Indian Premier League over the last month or two, leaving the tournament early to start preparations for a busy white-ball period for England.
There is also potential for fast bowler Jofra Archer to play his first senior professional match in over a year after having an awful time with injuries over the last three or four years.
England will be play four T20Is against Pakistan before heading off to defend their T20 World Cup crown, which gets underway against Scotland in Barbados on 4th June.
This series also acts as Pakistan’s final outings before they too head for North America, the beaten finalists in Australia two years ago looking for their first World Cup trophy since winning the World T20 in England in 2009.
Wednesday’s match will be Pakistan’s first under the tutelage of new white-ball coach Gary Kirsten, the South Africa opening batter having previously enjoyed coaching success with India, with whom he won the 2011 World Cup.
Notable inclusions in the Pakistan squad for their tour of England sees Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim come out of international retirement to have one last attempt at winning Pakistan some silverware as they bid for glory at next month’s T20 World Cup.
