Emotional moment King’s Guard breaks protocol and bursts into tears despite being on duty

Must read

King’s Guards are just as much a symbol of London as Big Ben, red phone boxes or black cabs.

And it’s a pretty tough job too, by the looks of it—not to mention all the strict rules they must follow, including being unable to crack a smile while on duty.

Although seeing some of the situations they have to deal with, I don’t think I’d be smiling much either.

However, they can sometimes show emotion—like if they hear a good joke or decide to move their horse a bit closer to let someone touch it.

But for this King’s Guard, she couldn’t help but cry when some special visitors turned up while she was working.

In a YouTube video filmed by Buska in The Park, The King’s Guard member can be seen sitting on her horse as visitors take pictures.

But it was when she spotted her parents within the crowd that she ultimately broke down in tears.

You can see the exact moment her face begins to crumple as her parents come up to stroke the horse and talk to her.

At one point, she wipes of her tears with her gloved hands, before a person in the crowd asks if the trio would like a photo together.

That’s when they nod in agreement and her parents wait on the sidelines as other tourists push in to get a snap first.

After they get the all clear, they come back up and have their family photo.

The video also shows the father taking a photo of his daughter while she remains on her horse.

Minutes later, the mum comes back and strokes the horse, and talks to her daughter for a bit.

Even though a sign is poised beside the horses’ warning tourists that they can bite or kick, this horse seemed particularly chill – even though there’s been a few instances of them dishing out injuries.

Not too long ago, a video went viral showing a King’s Guard horse that decided to bite a tourist after she got a little too close to the animal while posing for a photo.

When she placed her hand on its neck, it swung its head around and clamped its teeth down on her arm.

Ouch.

Another person was ‘thrown to the ground’ standing a bit too close to a horse.

Well, she was nudged, you can watch the video and decide if she was thrown or not as social media users seem to think she was faking.

One person wrote: “Not headbutted, just nudged. Not thrown to the ground, flopped like someone trying to start an insurance claim.”

While another said: “Oh please. That horse barely nudged her. Give me a break.”

And a third added: “The horse barely nudged her and she was too close.”
