‘Emergency incident’ closes rail station

Rail passengers are being warned to expect delays after a station en route to London was closed following an emergency incident.

Southeastern has said a passenger falling ill at Welling has left trains using the Bexleyheath line, which links Dartford to Charing Cross and Victoria, unable to stop at the station.

The train company wrote on X: “Trains are currently unable to call at Welling because of emergency services dealing with an incident.

“You can use your ticket at no extra cost on London Buses on reasonable routes via Welling.”

It had earlier stated “a passenger has been taken ill”.

Trains are not expected to resume stopping at Welling until at least 10am.
