Elvira Says Her Worst Celebrity Encounter Was with Ariana Grande

Elvira is recounting a disappointing experience she once had meeting Ariana Grande.

In a viral video circulating on YouTube and TikTok from a recent event Elvira, also known as actress Cassandra Peterson, took part in, the actress said one of her worst celebrity encounters happened in the past with the Wicked star.

Peterson, 73 explained in the video that Grande, 31, once brought a large number of family members and friends to one of Peterson’s performances as her character Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, and declined to take a photo with Peterson after Peterson took pictures with each of her guests.

“I’ll tell you briefly… she came and she brought 20 guests, so she wanted 20, 21 tickets,” she recounted. “We’re like, ‘Okay,’ and we give her the tickets. She comes backstage and she asks if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought.”

“I take a picture with every single one of them. I sign autographs for every single one of them,” she continued. “Then I say to her, ‘Can we take a photo together?’ She goes, ‘Nah, I don’t really do that.’ ”

Peterson, who has appeared at horror-themed events as Elvira for decades now, also said with a laugh that Grande left her performance before her show even started, though she did note that Grande’s guests all stayed for her show.

The viral video has gained significant attention on TikTok; a version of the clip shared by a fan account dedicated to Peterson’s Elvira character has been viewed over 1.5 million times, according to the social media app.

Fans of both Grande and Peterson have been sounding off on the recollection of the meeting on social media, with many pointing out that their meeting appears to have taken place almost a decade ago.

While Peterson has not shared the viral video natively from any of her own social media accounts, she did re-share the circulating social media clip on her Instagram Stories on Oct. 20 and shared a screengrab of an article about the viral video on her Instagram page the same day. 

“People saying ‘don’t owe pictures’ how can she ask for pictures for everyone and autographs for free but when they ask for one photo with you? You say no?💀💀” one Instagram user wrote in the comments of Peterson’s post about the video.

Another felt the anecdote didn’t meet the bar for a noteworthy negative celebrity experience, writing in a comment, “So the worst possible experience is someone didn’t want a picture with you?”
