Must read

The latest update for Elden Ring makes the final boss in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC easier to beat.

The version 1.14 patch features numerous bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, but listed at the top of the patch notes is a section dedicated to the final boss.

According to FromSoftware, the following changes have been made to the boss:

  • Changed the action pattern when the battle starts.
  • Adjusted some attack moves.
  • Decreased the damage of some attacks.
  • Decreased stamina damage of some attacks.
  • Decreased the attack range of some non-weapon-based attacks.
  • Improved the visibility of some attack effects.

Other changes include balance adjustments to PvP, equipment, weapon arts, spells, incantations and numerous fixes for bugs and performance issues.

The rest of the patch notes can be found on the Bandai Namco website.

In July, Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin – who created the initial world and plot for Elden Ring – teased a possible film or TV adaptation of the game.

Martin noted that the game was given the Nebula Award for Game Writing by the Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers Association, saying: “I did the worldbuilding for that project, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team did all the rest.”

Unprompted, he then appeared to tease: “Oh, and about those rumors you may have heard about a feature film or television series based on Elden Ring… I have nothing to say. Not a word, nope, not a thing, I know nothing, you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumor?”
