EasyJet warns passengers travelling to France ‘QR code may be needed’

Must read

EasyJet has issued a warning to passengers flying to Paris between July and September as the summer Olympics and Paralympics may impact holidaymakers’ travel plans.

The French capital will be hosting the 2024 Olympics from July 26 to August 11 and the Paralympics will also take place from August 28 to September 8. The UK Foreign Office recently shared important guidance for anyone travelling to Paris during the event and now easyJet has issued ‘should know’ advice to its passengers.

More than 15 million people are expected to travel to Paris during the Olympics and passengers with trips planned have been warned about crowding, airport transfers, public transport and the need for visitors to have a QR code to enter certain parts of the city.

UK tourists have been told that their transfer to and from the airport ‘might take longer than expected’ due to increased traffic and the city being ‘much more crowded than usual’.

The airline also told passengers that metro stations may be closed throughout this period and to check the French Ministry of Transport website for details of the planned closures. From July 20 to September 8, single metro tickets will increase in price from €2.10 to €4.

A secure perimeter will be set up along parts of the River Seine from July 18 to July 26 and visitors will need a digital pass to enter the area. To check whether you need a pass, visit the Pass Jeux website.
