Must read

Tensions are set to rise as The Six head to court amid Dean Wicks’ murder trial in a sizzling new EastEnders trailer revealed on Monday.

The tantalising clip sees Walford’s leading ladies – Stacey (Lacey Turner), Suki (Balvinder Sopal), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Denise (Diane Parish) and Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) – under pressure as they battle to keep the truth about Keanu’s death under wraps.

Soap fans will know that Keanu (Danny Walters) was accidentally killed by Linda on Christmas Day as she leapt to the defence of Sharon who was being attacked by the mechanic.

The ladies covered up the murder but Keanu’s body was later found, leading to months of anguish for the women as they attempted to cover their tracks – with them eventually framing Dean [Matt Di Angelo] for the murder.

However, upcoming scenes will see the walls close in on The Six as Keanu’s sister Bernie [Clair Norris] vows to expose their lies, while Dean continues to protests his innocence.

The clip begins with the voice of Suki telling her pals: ‘We stick to the story, that way Dean will get what he deserves’.

Various snapshots of characters then flash up, with Bernie then angrily warning an unseen person: ‘Lying in a court of law, sending an innocent man to prison for something you did!’

While Denise is then heard saying :’If you don’t come clean now, you’ll be in so deep. ‘cos guilt haunts.’

As the tension builds in the trailer, Dean can be heard shouting in court: ‘I didn’t kill Keanu Taylor!’

The chilling trailer ends with the words ‘watch your back’ as images of The Six looking anguished and fearful are seen.

Recent scenes on the BBC soap have seen prison-bound Dean working with Bernie as he fights to clear his name, with Dean convinced that Linda is involved in Keanu’s death.

In revenge, Bernie had been sending threating anonymous notes to Linda, causing the already fragile landlady to spiral further into her alcoholism as she struggled to cope.

Jack Branning had been helping the ladies with the secret, with the police officer becoming involved amid his wife Denise’s participation in the cover-up which led to her breakdown.

But it remains to be seen if he could help as Sharon takes the witness stand while the rest of The Six head to court, with trial episode set to air from Monday 2 September.

One thing’s for sure, whether Dean is proven innocent or guilty, actor Matt Di Angelo recently confirmed the character will be leaving Albert Square.

He told The Sun earlier this year: ‘There is a trial. I know the result of the trial, because we’ve filmed it already. I can tell you – but I won’t because it would ruin the television.

‘Dean is a bit like the World Cup. You can handle a bit of him every six years or so, and then after a week you’re like, “OK, enough of this:.’

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
