Eamonn Holmes drags arch-enemies Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield into Strictly stars’ Wynne Evans and Katya Jones’ ‘wandering hand’ drama

Must read

Eamonn Holmes has once again taken the opportunity to hit out at his arch-enemies Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as he discussed Strictly Come Dancing’s latest drama.

The broadcaster, 64, has openly shared his dislike of his former This Morning co-stars, particularly Phillip, with the two men’s warring words sparking a feud that’s been dubbed one of the biggest in showbusiness

And never shying away from an opportunity to attack the presenter, Eamonn couldn’t resist taking yet another a sly dig at Phil, 62, and Holly, 43, on Monday during his show on GB News.

He and his co-host Isabel Webster were discussing the much-talked about awkward moment between Wynne Evans and Katya Jones on Saturday’s Strictly live show.

As host Claudia Winkleman announced the opening of voting lines, eagle-eyed viewers noticed Wynne, 52, sliding his arm around Katya’s waist only for her to knock his hand away.

While a second awkward interaction saw the pro dancer, 35, appear to shun her celebrity partner’s attempts at a high five, deliberately turning her back to her partner as he held up his hands.

After fans expressed concern on social media, the pair took to Instagram to address the situation, insisting it had been an inside joke.

Appearing a video together, Katya began: ‘Hello everybody it’s Wynne and Katya here. We just wanted to say we were just messing around in the Clauditorium on Saturday night and just want to say sorry. It was a silly joke’.

Wynne chimed in: ‘Yes sorry,’ and added in the caption: ‘Apologies for this tonight we were just messing around. We really are amazing friends. The high 5’s is a running joke. Have a great evening @katyajones’.

While Katya was forced to dismiss growing rumours of a feud once again, calling speculation about Wynne’s wandering hands ‘absurd’ and reassured fans not to worry.

In another video the following day, seemingly filmed at her house, she said: ‘Happy Sunday everyone. Now I need to make something crystal clear.

‘The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was an a very silly, very silly inside joke between Wynne and I so even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended me in any way its complete nonsense.

‘It’s quite absurd actually. Can we  focus on how brilliantly he’s doing and what an amazing dancer he’s become?’

During a discussion of the incident on his breakfast show, Eamonn changed the topic to hit out at both the BBC and Holly and Phillip.

Speaking about the apology video, he said: ‘[Katya’s] showing she’s in control. The BBC is out of control of course.

‘Anything at all that happens, they will interrupt and apologise because they listen too much to what people have to say at home, which you should just ignore.

‘However, having said that all the talk with contestants and dancers is that is a hot house of passion in there and always has been.

‘And when you look at how intimate you would actually get, touching, feeling and whatever else you do. The Strictly curse definitely is a thing. So it ain’t going to go away.’

Eamonn then pointed to his co-host Isabel and said they ensured their relationship was not intimate, as he claimed most breakfast presenters ‘hate’ each other.

He said: ‘You take the comparison of being closer to a partner, in my case having a TV wife here [Isabel]. That’s why we strictly apply a sort of turgid relationship and have nothing intimate or nice between us.

‘When you look at all those breakfast presenters and you can go through and say he hates her, she hates him, and they do. And I used to say it about Phil and Holly but nobody would believe me. False, false, false.’

Rumours about animosity between Phillip and Eamonn had circulated for months, with the pair known to one another for about three decades.

While Eamonn hosted GMTV, Phillip presented This Morning before Eamonn joined him on the daytime show in 2006.

In a bid to keep the peace on the much-loved ITV daytime programme, the pair had tried to keep their mutual resentment to themselves.

When Phillip came out as gay live on This Morning back in February 2020, Eamonn was a picture of moral support – even though sources say he was furious about being forced to back the man he so disliked.

Nowdays, both have given up on such pretences and openly despise one another so much that ‘they would cross the road to avoid having to even look at each other’, according to a source who spoke to The Daily Mail.

They said: ‘It’s usually women who fall out in showbusiness but Eamonn and Phil’s is by far the b*******t, most vicious fallout in television.

‘They hate one another. Eamonn cannot stand Phil, and while he never used to talk about it, now he just doesn’t care. He thinks Phil is a disgrace and a liar. Phil keeps quiet about it all but the feeling is mutual.’

The pair’s feud began with an incident involving Eamonn’s former wife Ruth Langsford in 2019.

While working on Loose Women, Ruth was snubbed by Phillip when she was cut off mid-link while explaining what was coming up on the show during a mini-segment on This Morning.

Later in November 2021, Eamonn and Ruth were controversially axed from the show after 15 years and replaced on the Friday show by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Eamonn was particularly aggrieved about being let go by ITV, claiming he was never given an accurate reason.

His culling was made even more frustrating by his belief Phillip had been given unwavering support by ITV, despite his behaviour off set, a belief shared by Phillip’s former co-host Fern Britton and Amanda Holden, who briefly hosted This Morning alongside him in 2015, while Holly was on maternity leave.

The incident confirmed Eamonn’s belief that Phillip had constantly been feted despite his poor behaviour behind the scenes, sources claimed.

Following his move to GB News, Eamonn appeared less restrained in his public criticism of Phillip and Holly, with the star liking a meme that mocked the pair for ‘jumping the queue’ at the Queen’s lying in state last year.

And after Phillip left ITV in May 2023 after admitting to having a relationship with a much younger male colleague, Eamonn gleefully aired his dislike of the star.

At he time he described his former colleague as a ‘chief narcissist’ who didn’t know the names of any of his staff.

He also called him ‘delusional’ and ‘a liar’ after the under-fire host issued a statement insisting there had been ‘no toxicity’ at the daytime show.

And last month, Eamonn furiously hit out at Phillip ahead of his TV comeback, saying he is ‘very proud to have thrown him under the bus‘ and that he ‘deserves to be in exile’.

During his much-criticised television comeback on Channel 5 show Cast Away, Phillip opened up on his disgraceful ITV exit last year claimed he was ‘thrown under the bus’.

On his show, Eamonn was quick to reply: ‘Well if I’m one of the people who threw him under the bus I’m very proud to have done it… This man is addicted to fame, absolutely addicted to fame.’
