Eamonn Holmes allegedly ‘furious’ as Ruth Langsford takes ‘revenge’ after split

The former couple announced they were parting ways earlier this year after 14 years of marriage.

Reports suggested that work commitments had resulted in them drifting apart.

They’ve since said very little about the break-up, though Eamonn (64) has been pictured on a romantic holiday with his new 42-year-old girlfriend.

While there were reports Ruth (64) had hired a ‘fierce’ divorce lawyer.

The Daily Mail has now reported that the Loose Women star is adapting her home to life without Eamonn in an act of ‘revenge’.

The newspaper says she has removed his £2,000 stairlift before he collected the last of his belongings.

A source told the Daily Mail: “Ruth has remained quiet and classy. Even when people bring up what Eamonn has been up to, she stays silent and just smiles.

“She thinks that is the best way. She has had a lot of support from her friends.”

They added: “But one thing she would see every day was the stairlift which Eamonn installed. Ruth doesn’t need it.

“She’s super-fit and healthy but she knew Eamonn probably would struggle when he had to go the house to get some bits he needed for the holiday. The bedrooms are upstairs and he needed to get to them.

“It might seem petty but Ruth’s friends think it is absolutely hilarious as they think he has really taken her for a ride.

“You can imagine how furious Eamonn was. He was probably expecting to be able to use the stairlift to get his stuff and quickly get out again and pack for his holiday.”

Eamonn and Ruth had the stairlift installed in their home after he underwent back surgery in 2021.

Holmes has been battling ill health for some time.

In 2016, he underwent a double hip replacement operation lasting three-and-a-quarter hours after living with acute pain for many years.

Things worsened in 2021 when he slipped three discs in his back, causing him to lose mobility. And last year, his back surgery went “wrong”, leaving him in need of a wheelchair ever since.

Holmes has spoken of his fear that he might never regain mobility but he has seen some progress in recent times.

On July 8, he posted a photo of himself standing without assistance. And then on July 24, he demonstrated to his Instagram followers how he was using a special treadmill to try and regain his walking ability.

“So this gives me a certain amount of freedom and the idea is that I build up muscle memory and y’know things will happen, hopefully in the future,” he said.

After some fans noticed his absence from GB News, he reassured his 1.1 million followers that it was all due to something as simple as a summer holiday, writing: “People seem unfamiliar with the concept of Summer Holidays.”

He dismissed any concern and added: “See you next week!”
