Irish folk singer Cara Dillon has said she was “shot in the face” by a BB gun whilst walking through the English town of Frome, in Somerset.
The Co Londonderry singer claims she was shot multiple times by someone from a passing vehicle yesterday in the English town, but is now safe.
Ms Dillon, who is from Dungiven, said she was “really shocked” by the ordeal.
In a post on X she wrote: “Walking through #Frome tonight I was shot in the face by a BB gun multiple times by someone from a passing vehicle.
“I’m ok but really, really shocked, the police have been great. Be aware.”

Fans have commented on the post expressing their concern at the incident.
One said: “That’s absolutely horrendous, Cara. Actions like really can make you feel really insecure. Wishing you all the best, I hope you get over this soon!”
Another said: “Aw Cara. Really sorry to hear you’ve experienced something so scary and shocking. Glad you’ve not suffered any serious injury. Hope this experience doesn’t leave any lasting trauma.”
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: “Officers are investigating two reports of individuals being hit by a suspected BB gun pellet in Bath Street and Rodden Road in Frome.
“Thankfully, we do not believe anyone has been seriously injured or required any medical treatment and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
“We are asking anyone with any information to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference 5224144931 to the call handler.”
Ms Dillon started out as a working musician with local folk act Óige in 1991.
Her solo career began in 2001, racking up a score of awards and her voice has been featured in Disney productions.
