The panel for Dungeons and Dragons at GenCon introduced even more information about these new products. Fans who were in attendance, like TTRPG advocate Mike Balles, live-tweeted highlights from the presentation, including tidbits about the upcoming rulebooks. The Dungeon Master’s Guide will include tons of new stuff, including rules for Bastions, worldbuilding information for Greyhawk – the original setting of D&D – and crafting and gold prices for magic items. The Monster Manual, on the other hand, will have over 500 creatures to use, including powerful high-CR “apex” monsters, improved stat blocks, and suggestions for treasure drops.

    • It will also contain crafting rules and prices for magic items in the Treasures chapter – the largest in the book.
  • 2025 Monster Manual
    • Features over 500 monsters, including “apex” monsters and NPCs, with expanded families, improved stat blocks, and treasure suggestions.
  • Project Sigil
    • The working name for Dungeons and Dragons’s new virtual tabletop.
    • A free-to-play standalone app for PC to start with, but it will come to mobile and possibly consoles.
    • Sigil will have D&D Beyond integration, including perks for those with subscriptions.
    • Closed beta begins in fall 2024.
  • Future Dungeons and Dragons Products
    • Artificer works with the new rules, but the class will get more support later on.
    • Subclasses not found in the new Player’s Handbook may be enhanced in future books.

The panel also spoke more about Project Sigil, the code name given to the new Dungeons and Dragons VTT. It will be a free-to-play PC app to begin with, though mobile and console support are likely to follow. The program will feature variable levels of automation, homebrew support, and even D&D Beyond integration, allowing players to drop character sheets and more straight into Project Sigil.

With a focus on inclusivity, ease of use, and accessibility, these new Dungeons and Dragons products sound quite impressive. The 2024 Player’s Handbook, the first of the new books, releases September 17, but fans can access them earlier – and sign up for the Project Sigil closed beta – if they have a subscription to D&D Beyond.
