A Dubai princess has shocked the UAE after seemingly dumping her husband in a brutal Instagram message just two months after they welcomed their first child, according to reports.

A post on the official account of Sheikha Mahra Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the 30-year-old daughter of Dubai’s ruler, appeared to announce an imminent divorce from her husband Mohammed Bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum.

The post read: ‘Dear Husband, as you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you.

‘Take care. Your ex-wife.’

The pair appear to have unfollowed each other on social media, and have removed all posts they appeared in together from their respective accounts.

They officially got married just over a year ago in May 2023, and had a baby girl in May this year.

There has been no official statement from the House of Maktoum, the royal family that rules Dubai and which Sheikha Mahra comes from. Many on social media speculated that the princess’ account could have been hacked.

One social media user said: ‘I find it empowering when a woman recognizes her worth and confidently stands her ground.’

Another said: ‘This is not the beginning of a new chapter in your life. This is the beginning of a new book. Congratulations.’

Sheikha Mahra is the daughter of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the prime minister of the UAE, making him the head of his nation’s government.

Sheikh Mohammed is reportedly one of the UK’s largest landowners, holding more tham 40,000 hectares across London, Scotland and Newmarket, the Guardian revealed in 2021

She graduated from an unspecified London university last year having obtained a degree in International Relations, and was pictured outside the Southbank Centre in February 2023 wearing a black mortarboard cap.

The sheikha is an outspoken advocate for women’s rights.

Sheik Mana, meanwhile, is a well-known entrepreneur who has been pictured with legendary footballer Ronaldinho and notorious social media personality Andrew Tate.

The two posts with the self-described misogynist were tagged with ‘#togp’, referencing one of his catchphrases.

Under these posts, social media users eviscerated him in the hours after his wife’s account made the divorce announcement.

‘Lol no surprise she divorced [you. Friendship with a rapist and women trafficker’, one wrote.

‘Now it makes sense’, wrote another.

Sheik Mana appears to have spent much time in the UK, especially in Windlesham, Surrey, where he seems to own a large property according to his Instagram.

He also appears to spend much time in the heart of London.

According to Expatica, an online site that aims to help expats across the world, while adultery does provide legal grounds to get a divorce in the UAE, cheating on your spouse is a criminal offense, leaving the adulterer open to criminal prosecution.

But ex-partners can be divorced in as little as one month, if they agree to a mutual consent divorce which doesn’t require a legal reason.

MailOnline has reached out to the government of Dubai for comment.
