Drainage maintenance firm Jet Aire has launched a new Tyneside base, creating a number of jobs in the process.

The County Durham business, which already has depots in Newcastle, Darlington and Leeds, has opened a 25,173 sqft site in Hebburn, where it joins several other companies also belonging to its parent, Adler & Allan Group. The move has created 38 jobs, including 28 drainage experts and 10 office-based staff.

Jet Aire, which offers installation, diagnostic and cleaning services among other things, says the new base will allow its team to deliver remediation and maintenance services to a wider set of customers including Northumbrian Water Group through an extended contract with Esh Group.

The opening of the new depot coincides with Jet Aire’s 25-year anniversary in the industry. It works with commercial, industrial, and domestic customers to keep drains flowing and provides a 24/7 emergency service. It is part of £62.5m turnover, Harrogate-based environmental services group Adler & Allan.

Most recent accounts for the group, for the year to the end of September, show a sizeable uplift in profitability on the back of several acquisitions which also included water monitoring equipment firm Detectronic Holdings Limited, Public Sewer Services Limited and testing and inspection specialist QEMS Limited. Adler & Allan has itself agreed a deal to be acquired by Goldman Sachs Alternatives – a transaction that is expected to close in the coming months.

Bosses at Adler & Allan said they expect activity to ramp up this year, particularly thanks to growth in technical services and a rise in planned preventative maintenance contracts. Jet Aire will occupy the Hebburn site along with Adler & Allan firm Aqua Consultants, which was acquired last year, and the group’s Environmental Services division.
