Local police is investigating both cases and it is understood that both tourists had health issues.

Two autopsies have been scheduled to shed light on their cause of death.

MailOnline has contacted the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for comment.

The deaths of the two British tourists come just a week after a British tourist who was on holiday with her husband fell to her death at a Crete hotel.

The woman, 65, was staying at the hotel in Hersonissos before the tragic incident took place.

Emergency services dashed to the scene and the traveller was hospitalised in critical condition and with serious injuries at Venizelio hospital, according to local reports.

Medics intubated her and transferred her to the Intensive Care Unit where she succumbed to her injuries on October 16.
