Donald Trump has been poking fun at President Joe Biden’s mental sharpness but ironically seemed to forget his own doctor’s name at a Detroit rally.
The ex-POTUS has consistently criticized 81-year-old Biden, suggesting that the current commander-in-chief isn’t up to snuff for leading the nation as they gear up for another electoral showdown.
Despite goading Biden into taking a ‘cognitive’ test, Trump himself raised eyebrows when he seemingly botched his doctor’s name at a recent event.
During his address to Turning Point Action in Detroit, Michigan, on Saturday, June 15, Trump, who just turned 78, once again broached the subject of cognitive fitness. He jeered that Biden “doesn’t even know what the word ‘inflation’ means”, and challenged him to prove his mental acuity with a cognitive assessment, much like he did while in office.
In a boastful moment, Trump claimed he “aced” the cognitive exam, which was suggested by the then-White House doctor, whom he misnamed as Ronny Johnson. To the crowd, he posed the question, “Has anyone heard of Ronny Johnson, congressman from Texas?”
“He was the White House doctor, and he said I was the healthiest president, he feels, in history. So I liked him very much.”
These words were from Trump who made a gaffe on Saturday night by attributing them to none other than Ronny Jackson who actually conducted his medical exam and is now representing Texas’s 13th congressional district in the US House since 2021.
This slip-up didn’t slide under the radar but was noted and plastered across social media platforms, Bidens crew did not fail to capitalize on it.
When it came time for the People’s Convention, all eyes turned to Trump. The gathering saw about 2,000 MAGA enthusiasts congregating.
Trump dominated the event with an 80-minute speech stealing the spotlight; though a promise to field questions ended up being broken, his presence lodged excitement into the three-day GOP activist “training” camp set before the November elections.
