Donald Trump was loudly booed and heckled while delivering a speech at the Libertarian Party’s national convention, where he tried to find common cause with delegates to defeat President Biden.
Trump’s appearance before the crowd in Washington DC on Saturday night was a rare instance of him addressing a hostile audience. His supporters, many wearing MAGA hats, had crammed into the hall and chanted “we want Trump” but were drowned out by the larger number of Libertarians who booed. Others hurled expletives and insults at Trump including “liar” and “war criminal”.
Libertarians believe in a limited government and expansive personal freedoms, with many still criticising Trump for the restrictions he introduced during the pandemic. Trump, the 77-year-old presumptive nominee of the Republican Party, is seeking
