‘Do not’ travel warnings issued after body found in search for missing teen

A body has tragically been found in the search for missing British teenager, Jay Slater. The 19-year-old, from Lancashire, travelled to Tenerife to attend a music festival.

But after speaking to his friend on the phone on Monday, June 17, no one has heard from him. And sadly, a body was found today (Monday, July 15) near to where Jay’s phone last pinged.




The human remains were with Jay’s possessions and clothes, it has been reported. A spokesperson for the Civil Guard added that the remains showed signs of an ‘accident or fall.’

They added: “After 29 constant days of searching the lifeless body of the young man has been found in the Masca area. The discovery has been possible thanks to the tireless and discreet search carried out by the Civil Guard over these 29 days.

“Everything is pointing to the body being that of the young British man who disappeared on June 17, pending full identification. Initial inquiries are pointing to him having suffered an accident/fall in the area where he was found.”

In light of this, the latest travel advice for Brits to bare in mind when heading to Spain can be found on the government’s website. In its Safety and Security section, the government warns of risks associated with crime, scams, weather, attire, alcohol, spiking, outdoor activities and transport, The Mirror Reports.
