Randy Orton is reportedly suffering a severe cervical injury.
During the November 8th episode of SmackDown, a brawl occurred between Kevin Owens and Orton. While The Apex Predator had the upper hand in the battle, Kevin Owens soon found an opening and dropped Randy Orton with a “banned” piledriver, leaving him motionless.
Soon enough, a breathless Orton was stretchered away to a local medical facility, with Cody Rhodes by his side. During the latter half of the show, announcer Michael Cole suggested medics checking Orton for potential cervical injuries.
Earlier today, WWE confirmed Randy Orton’s injury and issued the following statement:
Randy Orton has been diagnosed with a cervical cord neurapraxia. There is no timetable for his return.”
Cervical cord neurapraxia is a temporary neurological deficit that occurs after trauma to the cervical spinal cord and is very common in athletes. Normally, the resolution time for the issue in adults ranges between 15 minutes to 48 hours.
Already suffering from back issues, which almost finished his career last year, the cervical cord neurapraxia can prove fatal for The Viper. With no solid update on his return timeline, fans will need to keep their hopes high and pray for the former World Champion’s recovery.
We will continue to provide updates on Orton’s injury as more information becomes available.
We at Inside The Ropes wish Randy Orton a safe and steady recovery.
