Buying a PlayStation 5 (or a Pro ) is already a heavy investment without spending more on games to play on it. The Sony console is one of the most popular gifts this holiday season, and the logical thing is that those who receive it will start playing from the moment they complete the initial setup. But there is much more life than Fortnite currently on the PS Store, so we leave you with some examples to make your Christmas day much more special. Remember: all games that are free to play do not require a PS Plus subscription to play.

These are the best free games with which to enjoy your PS5 at Christmas
Genshin Impact | The great game of miHoYo. Sometimes it feels like Breath of the Wild; others, a light but engaging role-playing open world. The anime aspect gives it the necessary twist for a title that is a classic in the free-to-play catalog. It is one of the best options to get carried away doing missions for hours and hours.
My First Gran Turismo | If you can’t afford Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital offers this curated experience that revives some legendary elements of the franchise. You can drive 18 cars on 3 legendary circuits. It contains some routes designed to learn how to play, including the license tests that bring so much joy to fans in installment after installment. Highly recommended.
Astro’s Playroom | It comes pre-installed on all PS5s, but you may see it and think it’s nonsense. Not at all. Astro Bot, its older brother, is the GOTY 2024 for a reason. With this game, you have a demonstration of what it is capable of in 2-3 hours of play. It is a piece of platforms with which to revive some of the legendary PlayStation licenses (and in the process, review the history of PlayStation).
The Finals | Some of the creators of Battlefield left DICE to found a studio whose first work is the one we discuss in these lines. If we talk about competitive shooters, The Finals is one of the best today. Destruction in abundance in games is condensed into action in abundance and unlikely situations. Highly recommended.
Rocket League | The best soccer game is not played with humans, but with rocket powered cars. Rocket League has been another legend of the multiplayer grid since its launch on PS4, but the game continues to enjoy excellent health. Caution: if you feel you’re getting better quickly while playing, you will be hooked for a long time.
Zenless Zone Zero | From the creators of Genshin Impact, this game combines elements that exude personality. The cycles and social life of Persona with the hack and slash of a Devil May Cry. It is a piece of game that stands out for always offering quality content, with rhythm and without rest. And by the way, much more generous than other games from the company.
Destiny 2 | There are few shooters better than the Bungie classic. It is heading into the decade and continues to occupy an important position in the console’s catalogue. Although you cannot play raids and some content without PS Plus, the main content is not limited in any way. It is a shooter that you have to try once in your life.
The Sims 4 | Yes, The Sims 4 base is available at no additional cost on console. You will be able to use all the basic functions of the game and elements that it brought in its original release. From there you can get expansions that include more game systems to its structure, but what it means to start families and live life can be done without paying a dime.
Marvel Rivals | It is one of the games that has caused a sensation in this final stretch of the year. Imagine all of Marvel’s heroes and villains together in a sort of third-person Overwatch.
Batman – The Telltale Series | If you want something more focused on the narrative, one of the best games from Telltale (the creators of the video game adaptation of The Walking Dead) offers its first episode for free. It’s about Batman. It’s hard not to like Batman, so why fool ourselves.
