Dick and Angel Strawbridge have announced that they’re taking a break from their podcast to enjoy a summer break with children; Arthur, 11, and Dorothy, 10. In the latest episode of their podcast, the couple reflected on the activities they had been enjoying as a family, which included a unique version of the Olympics.
As well as this, the pair reflected on Arthur’s primary school journey coming to an end, which had left Angel in tears. Reminiscing on memories with their children, The Vintage Patisserie founder said that one of her favourite times occurred when Dick sadly missed out due to his presenting career.
In response, he joked: “When I worked for a living, those olden days because now I do nothing. It’s not rock and roll here.” As the pair continued to reflect on more memories, she added: “We’ve had some real laughs, it’s been good.”
Angel went on to say it was “an end of an era” for the family and that after eventful season has died down, they will be going to take a well-deserved break. She told listeners of the Dick and Angel’s Chat… Eau podcast: “This is the end of an era and the next time we chat to you we’re gonna have had our boom [in bookings], and we’re also going to have had our little summer holiday.
“We’re off to Italy virtually the next day and then we’re going to have a little break this summer.” But reassuring fans they won’t be gone for too long, she continued: “We will be back early September and we will let you know.
“So, after this podcast, there’ll be one more before we really put our feet up and enjoy our summer.”
During their penultimate episode, the pair concluded the show by answering questions from curious fans wanting to know more about the wedding guests they cater for.
One fan questioned if they ever had to deal with “mischievous” or drunk guests, to which Angel replied: “We are in event season at the moment.
“I’ve got to say out of all the events we’ve ever done, we must’ve done 50 weddings, we have never particularly had anyone who has been mischievous.”
Dick chimed in to add: “There are people having a good time, sometimes weddings can be a sort of tinder box of emotions. Actually, our weddings, the people we’ve had here, are just people enjoying themselves.
“We’ve had some people who have had a nap between the actual meal, the digestives and the dancing, we’ve lost a groom.”
Angel continued: “Has anyone ever had too many gins and tonics? Absolutely. That’s part of our job isn’t it, making sure everyone has a nice little tipple.”
“And giving a lot of people water as well. We spend a lot of our time hydrating people,” Dick added.
The couple previously gave fans an insight into their French fairytale on Escape To The Chateau, which ran for nine series up until 2022.
Speaking about their exit, Dick previously told The Belfast Telegraph: “We made the decision because the kids are growing older, and all the parallel activity was not sustainable at this level. We are doers and we are never going to stop completely, but we’re also protecting them.
“Arthur is starting senior school and the pressure on our little ones is phenomenal. When he goes there, people may have heard that his parents have done stuff on television.”
Back in May, Angel also confirmed reports that she had fallen out with one of the camera men on set, after an audio of her shouting at him was leaked.
The mother-of-two claimed that the person in question had treated the family badly and behaved in an unacceptable manner which led her to “see red” and bite back.
Channel 4 didn’t respond to Express.co.uk when approached at the time.
