Since the release of Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred, players have been exploiting the game’s new Spiritborn class to dish out huge damage. While Blizzard has already started to nuke the Spiritborn class, a Blizzard developer has asked fans if the studio should continue to nerf the class.

Should Blizzard nerf Diablo 4 Spiritborn?

Following the underwhelming Vessel of Hatred campaign, Blizzard has already started to tweak the game in post-release updates to fix the expansion’s rewards. With a Halloween event on the way, Blizzard has turned to fans to discuss the current state of its new class.

In a call to fans on Twitter, general manager Rod Fergusson asked fans if the broken class should stay in its admittedly “broken” state.

“Should we fix the Spiritborn so that it’s closer in balance to the other classes, or should we leave it as it is because you’re having fun?” Fergusson asked.

The developer explained that the public question is a “non-binding poll” so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Fergusson also explained that the studio isn’t offering to “break the other classes”, only to keep Spiritborn broken.

There are still issues to fix

Despite the option to keep the Diablo 4 class broken, Fergusson explains that there will undoubtedly be some nerfs and fixes for the character class. Even if Spiritborn remains an overpowered class, it won’t be as broken as it is at the time of writing.

“I’m just saying that a class that’s been out for three weeks versus 16 months is going to have some issues that need to be addressed,” the Blizzard dev explained. “[The] real question is when.”

Diablo 4 patches are releasing at a rapid pace to address the unbalanced state of the game on the launch of its 2.0 update. Blizzard has often made nerfs and buffs that have failed to sit well with fans, but the game is currently in a pretty good place.
