Devon high street lands amazing new shop full of bargains

Must read

Torrington High Street has a brand new shopping destination for one-off gems at bargain prices, as North Devon Hospice officially opened its new store recently.

The ribbon was cut by Julie Blythe, a patient facing secondary cancer who is herself being supported by the hospice.

The funds raised from the new shop will help more people just like Julie, who are facing a life-limiting illness.

“I can’t put into words the reassurance the hospice gives me. It means I have the confidence to live my life, knowing that no matter where I am on my journey, someone will be there for me, whether that’s on the phone or at the hospice itself. The staff are all amazing, and it’s been such a comfort to me.”

On performing the official opening, Julie said: “I was very nervous about cutting the ribbon! But I do feel very honoured. The new shop is amazing, so bright and lovely. It’s on the main thoroughfare in town so should attract a lot of attention and hopefully raise lots of money for a wonderful cause.”

Daren Ainscough, head of retail at North Devon Hospice, said he is delighted to bring something new to Torrington High Street. “The support we’ve seen in the last couple of days has been so overwhelming. I think this will be a great addition to the town, judging by how popular it’s been already. Huge thanks go to our amazing volunteers, for helping this move happen so quickly, as well as for all their years of support in our old shop.”
