A property developer who illegally felled six 100-year-old oak trees worth £250,000 has been fined only £1,666.
Khalil Hussain, 67, anhered his neighbours in Bradford by having the healthy trees cut down in the garden of his £770,000 property.
He was handed a fine of £1,666 at Bradford magistrates’ court on Friday for violating the tree preservation orders — £277.66 for each tree.

Professor Peter Vowden, who lived next door to the property on Staveley Road for 34 years, said: “I think I speak on behalf of all the neighbours when I say we are all upset and distressed by the felling of the trees.”
