Barbie actress America Ferrara is set to relocate to the UK. It was reported earlier this week that the Ugly Betty alum, 40, was planning to move with her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, and their son Sebastian, six, and daughter Lucia, four.
Ferrara is said to be “sick” that Donald Trump was re-elected and is looking to move amid growing tensions in the US.
The Ugly Betty actress was recently spotted looking at a private school in South West London after a source claimed she is fleeing the US to seek a better “education for her kids”.
“America is sick that Donald Trump is President again,” a source told DailyMail.com “She is devastated that Kamala lost. She thought the country she lived in was better than that.”
They said the move does not mean she is leaving Hollywood for good, as she wants to keep a “presence” in the US for work, Latinas, and women.
Several stars have swapped the US for the UK in recent months over fears for the political landscape, abortion rights and gun violence.
British actress Minnie Driver, 54, told The Times in July that she had returned to the UK after nearly three decades of living in Los Angeles.
She revealed that if Trump were to be re-elected, she would have a hard time returning to America.
“If I lived in a red [Republican] state, no, I couldn’t [return],” she told the publication. “But living in California, you are somewhat insulated.”
British star Sophie Turner, 28, told Harper’s Bazaar last month that she realised she had to “get the f**k out” of America due to gun violence and the overturning of Roe v Wade.
Actress Eva Mendes and husband Ryan Gosling recently relocated from the US to the UK.
The 50-year-old told The Times last month that she and her husband, 43, were living in Notting Hill, London, with their two kids, adding: “We have access to those communal gardens. Seriously, it’s magical.”
Johnny Depp is said to have left the US for the UK in search of a “quiet life” in the wake of his highly publicised trial with Amber Heard.
“He really feels London is a home. It is more of a quiet life, but filled with painting and music,” a source told People.
Meanwhile, several British stars, including Sir Rod Stewart, have recently returned to the UK.
In an August statement, he told fans: “We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit. “
“Originally, we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA, but having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency, we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there.”
This Morning presenter Cat Deeley decided to return to the UK after her husband and son were caught up in a gun scare at a shopping mall. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The TV star, 48, who has two sons, Milo, eight, and James, six, moved to the US more than a decade ago and had carved out a successful presenting career over there, fronting hit shows like So You Think You Can Dance?
Speaking on Lorraine, Cat admitted the incident had left her “terrified”.
