Police have announced a £10,000 reward for information regarding a father and son who vanished in Spain more than five years ago.
Daniel Poole and his son Liam went missing during a trip to Malaga in 2019, with Sussex Police escalating the case to a murder investigation in 2022. The force is now offering this substantial sum for details that lead to the arrest and charge of anyone involved in Danny and Liam’s disappearance.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Dunn said that while the Pooles disappeared in Spain, there are individuals in the UK holding “vital information” about the case.
He further commented: “We understand there may be some who have felt unable to come forward before now, but it’s not too late to do the right thing.”
“Even the smallest detail could be significant in helping us provide their families with the answers they so desperately need and deserve.”
Lauryn, Danny’s daughter and Liam’s sister, explained how difficult the disappearance has been for her. She said she thinks about “what truly happened and what their last moments might have been like” every day – and revealed these thoughts often kept her awake at night.
Lauryn told the BBC: “Not a day goes by that I don’t wonder what life would be like with my dad and brother in it.”
“I beg and pray that someone could give me and our family the closure we need to move on from the sleepless nights and that I can give an explanation to my dad and brother’s growing family one day,” she added.
Daniel and Liam went missing after they hired a grey Peugeot 308, with registration 0254 KTM, when they arrived in Spain on 31 March 2019. The vehicle was eventually found abandoned by Spanish police.
Sussex Police said the father and son both left their luggage and passports at their hotel, suggesting this was not a planned disappearance. Sussex Police’s Major Crime Team is now lead the investigation, having taken over from the Spanish police.
