Details of Sinéad O’Connor’s Cause of Death Revealed

Must read

Sinéad O’Connor’s exact cause of the death has been revealed a year after her death.

As reported by The New York Times and Irish Independent, the Irish singer died last year of “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low-grade lower respiratory-tract infection.”

The information was made available for the first time via her death certificate, which was registered last week. It was submitted by her first husband, John Reynolds, who produced various of her albums including I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss, her final completed LP before her death.

In January, the medical examiner’s office in London told The Hollywood Reporter that O’Connor died of natural causes. “The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death,” the office said in a statement. “No further comments will be made.”

O’Connor died at the age of 56 on July 26, 2023. Police found the Grammy winner unresponsive in her London home, and she was pronounced dead upon their arrival. Her death was not treated as suspicious.

A year before her death, O’Connor shared that her 17-year-old son Shane had died after being reported missing. His body was found in the eastern coastal town of Bray in Ireland. The musician tweeted, “the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby, I love you so much. Please be at peace.”
