The actress Demi Moore stepped out in a classic polka dot look for The Substance photo call at Cannes Film Festival on Monday (20 May).

After not attending the prestigious film festival for over 25 years, the Ghost and Charlie’s Angels star’s look was graceful and demonstrated why polka dots should always have a place in our wardrobes.

Designed by fashion designer Ellie Saab, the gorgeous tailored midi dress was designed with a flattering cinched waist and a deep neckline, and paired with coordinating black-and-white Aquazzura pointed-toe heels.

The star was also pictured with her co-star Dennis Quaid, who is also starring in the new film The Substance, which was released on the 19 May.

While the all-white fashion trend has been taking catwalks and red carpets by storm in recent weeks, with the likes of Gaby Roslin and Jessica Ennis wearing the trend at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and Meryl Streep among others at Cannes opting for the monochrome look too.

However, white and black polka dots are a print in many of our wardrobes that are often forgotten, and I think this look is just one of the celebrity polka dot looks that will make us revisit or invest in this print this summer.

While some might think that polka-dots lack excitement, we think styled the right way, they could by-pass florals this summer and become the new it-pattern of the season.

Whether you like a small dotty look or love the oversized polka dot finish, there’s a polka dot dress out there for everyone this summer 2024.
