San Diego Comic-Con attendees of this evening’s Deadpool & Wolverine panel were treated to one heck of a star-studded surprise. Not only did they get to join stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for a special opening night screening of the film, but they were treated to a bevy of other guest cameos when the film was over.
IGN attended the panel this evening at SDCC, which kicked off with special themed popcorn buckets and appearances from Jackman, Reynolds, Kevin Feige, Emma Corrin, and Shawn Levy. The group shared some enthusiastic opening night comments, including a brief clip of Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, before starting the movie and playing it in full for the SDCC audience.

After the panel, a gaggle of stars who all made guest appearances in the film joined Jackman, Reynolds, Feige, Corrin, and Levy onstage. The audience was treated to appearances by Dafne Keen (who returns as X-23 from Logan), Jennifer Garner (Elektra), Wesley Snipes (Blade), Channing Tatum (Gambit, a role he was cast for but never actually got to play), and delightfully, Chris Evans, playing Human Torch/Johnny Storm from the 2005 and 2007 Fantastic Four movies instead of his usual Captain America.
That was it for the panel, which was largely a glorified star-studded screening for the fans lucky enough to make it into Hall H. Deadpool & Wolverine is officially out tomorrow (aka tonight), and we’ve got a guide to every single easter egg in the film we could possibly find as well as a big interview with Kevin Feige himself on the film. We also learned just earlier today, courtesy of Hot Ones, that Deadpool & Wolverine’s original concept included a fake movie called Alpha Cop that was “intentionally bad.”
We gave Deadpool & Wolverine a 7/10 in our review, calling it a “outrageous, consistently funny superhero comedy that succeeds largely thanks to the contagious enthusiasm of leads Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, and a surprisingly classy perspective on superhero movie history.”
