Davina McCall’s partner Michael Douglas’ life off-camera after brain tumour hell

Must read

Davina McCall’s partner Michael Douglas has seen her through a lot – and he’s been her rock after Davina was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour.

The Big Brother star, 56, revealed her diagnosis to fans on Friday morning (November 15) after undergoing a routine health scan. Doctors found a colloid cyst around 14mm wide in her brain, requiring Davina to go under the knife for a craniotomy to remove it.

Thankfully Michael, 49, has remained steadfast by her side – making her laugh with his cheeky jokes in her announcement video.

Davina and Michael have been official since 2019, but met years earlier. Michael actually met Davina while he was her hairdresser during her days presenting Big Brother – and he’s won awards for his skills in hair styling.

In January 2023, the couple announced they had moved in together, with Davina explaining on their podcast Making the Cut: “I am quite enjoying being a new couple doing new things, because we are newly living together.

“It’s quite nice making new traditions because we did that before Christmas, we sat down together and talked about it: ‘Ok, blank space, what shall we make tradition from now on?’”

She’s told The Sun: “We are best friends. We just get on really well at work and we always have done – that’s never changed.”

Michael is the founder of hair styling company mdlondon, and has been styling hair for more than 35 years. And according to one relationship expert who spoke to OK! Magazine about their romance, Davina dating a man shorter than her shows off her confidence.

Hayley Quinn told the publication: “For a woman to value her partner regardless of what is considered conventionally attractive also demonstrates her self esteem; she oozes confidence and has this in her own choices. She doesn’t need to conform to what everyone else thinks.”

Davina has been married twice – first to Andrew Leggett in 1997, though they divorced that same year, and then to Matthew Robertson from 2000 until 2017.

She has three children from her second marriage – daughters Holly and Tilly, and son Chester. Michael also has marriage experience and children of his own.
