Are you feeling sheer trend fatigue yet? With see-through clothing having inundated catwalks, street style and red carpets over the past few years, it’s only natural to wonder if there’s anything left to be squeezed from the trend that we haven’t already seen. Now, Dakota Johnson is giving the fad a well-timed summer upgrade.
Just in time for the warmer months, Johnson hit the streets of New York City in two totally sheer outfits.
The first look, captured while she was getting into a black SUV, was pulled straight from Gucci’s Cruise 2025 collection. The ensemble included a nearly translucent off-white long-sleeved cardigan tucked into a see-through midi skirt awash in a rich sunflower hue. Underneath, she wore some bright yellow undergarments, including a bralette and tiny boy shorts. As for the rest of her outfit, she finished off the look with glossy maroon slingback kitten-heel pumps and some black rectangular sunglasses.
Later in the day, while attending the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new film, Daddio, Johnson changed into another ultra-see-through Gucci look. This time, she went for a more sultry effect, by way of a deep-sea-blue slip dress with asymmetrical panels of lace across the bodice and bust. Instead of wearing plain undergarments beneath the sheer piece, the actor kicked it up a notch with more lace — specifically, lacy high-rise short shorts. She tied the look together with some black heeled sandals with crisscrossing ankle straps and a long pendant feather necklace from Tiffany & Co.
