CORONATION Street legend Charlie Lawson has opened up about wild nights out with unlikely pal Katie Price.
The actor, 65, played iconic Corrie character Jim McDonald on and off from 1989, but was last seen in Weatherfield in 2018.
Writing in his tell-all autobiography – That’s Life, So It Is – Charlie has revealed he and former glamour model Katie, 46, enjoyed several boozy nights out together.
He said: “I had always got on well with her, although we had more often than not been three sheets to the wind, at 3am, under the influence of anything that we had got our hands on!”
Charlie added: “I have always had a soft spot for Pricey. I’ve always felt that she has been let down by friends and boyfriends alike.”
He also spoke about his drinking and drug-taking, claiming at one point he was getting through “over a bottle of whiskey” every night.
Charlie said: “Drugs were everywhere.
“Every weekend I’d travel back to London on the last fast service to Euston and end up in some strange venue and party the whole night through with bags of speed and anything else we could get our hands on.
“Vast amounts of cocaine was available and clearly everyone, including myself, had partaken.
“My drinking had become very heavy. I never drank during the day but at night I was drinking over a bottle of whiskey. If there was anything else around I would buy it.”
Earlier this year Charlie blasted Coronation Street in an exclusive interview with The Sun.
He recalled a conversation with Sarah Lancashire, who played Raquel Wolstenhulme in the nineties, at the funeral of former writer John Stevenson, who died aged 86 in September 2023.
Charlie said: “I fear that Corrie might not be here in ten years’ time. Sarah and I were talking. We both agreed John wouldn’t recognise the show.
“We felt it was a completely different animal, so fundamentally different from our day — and the viewing figures have plummeted.”
