Must read

fans believe they have worked out what really happened to Lauren Bolton. Lauren (played by Cait Fitton) has been missing since February and is presumed dead.

Although her body was never found, police determined that she was murdered, and arrested Roy Cropper (David Neilson) for the crime. Next week, the night Lauren disappeared in a week full of special episodes.

In a new trailer, flashbacks will disclose Lauren’s fate as her attacker’s identity is revealed. But while it appears she is dead, viewers aren’t convinced.

In a huge twist, one viewer speculated that Lauren could be at Rowan Cunliffe’s retreat. They wrote: “Could Lauren be at Rowan’s retreat. No phones. No social media. Leanne is going there…”

Another penned: “Okay so the Lauren storyline is leading into the cult storyline?” Newcomer and cult leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) recently arrived in the Cobbles and targeted Leanne Battersby by convincing her to join his “self-improvement group”, The Institute.

Toyah (Georgia Taylor) discovered a concerning post about the Institute online, but found it had been removed due to legal issues when she attempted to warn Leanne. She dismissed Toyah’s concern after Rowan claimed it was his ex-partner who wrote the post.

Despite Toyah’s pleas to rethink her decision, without saying goodbye. Will Leanne stumble across Lauren at the Institute?

The upcoming special set of episodes will leave viewers on the edge of their seats as the unfolding drama sets the stage for new storylines that will span the rest of the year.

Coronation Street‘s Executive Producer Iain MacLeod said: “This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling. It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama.

“The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted.

He added: “It is also the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative – so you really won’t want to miss it, if you want to carry on trying to piece together this thrilling puzzle!”
