Coronation Street new arrest made as Lauren’s killer is finally exposed

Must read

fans are set to see Sarah Platt (played by Tina O’Brien) go to great lengths to try and get Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) out of Weatherfield once and for all. Official spoilers for the soap reveal that Sarah and her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) waste no time in going to the police.

With her former abuser still looming around the cobbles, Bethany threatens to leave Weatherfield again, not feeling safe. Not wanting her daughter to leave, Sarah decides to pay Nathan a visit.

At the building site, Sarah reminds Nathan that he took £10,000 to leave town. However, when he laughs in her face, she sees red and forms a plan to get revenge.

Later on, Sarah returns with a plastic bag which contains Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) hair bobble which was found in the things that she left at the Platts. Although her plan comes to a halt when Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) catches her in the act.

As she’s caught red-handed Sarah is forced to admit that she was planning to plant Lauren’s hair bobble in Nathan’s van, wanting to prove that he murdered Lauren. Kit urges Sarah to let the police do their job in catching the person responsible for Lauren’s murder.

Later on in the week news quickly spreads that Nathan has been arrested. Did Sarah ignore Kit’s warning and plant incriminating evidence? Or have the police discovered something that proves Nathan is guilty?

Sadly, it seems as though Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) torment in prison continues as the book he was reading lies soaked in tea with a broken spine.

Nathan’s arrest comes ahead of the soap facing a major shake-up next week as fans will finally learn what truly happened to Lauren.

Usually, Coronation Street airs three nights a week, although as the dramatic storyline comes to a close the programme will play out across five nights.

The first four episodes will be the same day through the eyes of different characters involved in Lauren’s life. The week then ends as a new day dawns in Friday’s episode and the mystery of Lauren’s fate continues to be unravelled.

Speaking about the upcoming scenes, executive producer Iain MacLeod said: “This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling.

“It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama. The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted.

“It is also the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative – so you really won’t want to miss it, if you want to carry on trying to piece together this thrilling puzzle!”

Coronation Street continues next week on ITV from 7:30pm
