Ever since troubled teen Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton) vanished from the cobbles earlier this year, Coronation Street viewers have been left wondering what happened to her.
Fans of the ITV soap have been left furious as Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has been spending time behind bars for her murder, although no body has been discovered. However, the long-running mystery is set to come to a dramatic end next week.
ITV has confirmed that across five nights, the truth about Lauren’s disappearance will finally be revealed. Before fans get the answers they’ve been waiting for, Express.co.uk asked readers what they believed happened to her.
Out of 619 votes at the time of writing, only eight people believe Lauren was murdered by Roy, with many viewers continuing to protest his innocence. Although 19 fans do think the teen has been killed by someone else.
41 votes revealed viewers are unsure of what could’ve happened to Lauren with 27 people having another theory in mind. Whereas 133 fans think the teen has been kidnapped by someone.
However, a whopping 391 viewers think Lauren is still alive but hiding from someone dangerous.
Before she vanished, Coronation Street fans witnessed the teen get harassed by a boyfriend who wouldn’t take no for an answer when she tried to end things.
From showing her with flowers, gifts and even showing up at her flat, it was clear someone was infatuated with her.
As her friends have tried to get to the bottom of what happened, the police learnt Lauren was part of the adult only site O-Vidz.
Along with this, Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) revealed he had seen severe bruises on her shoulder before she vanished.
Could viewers be correct in thinking she’s hiding from someone? Or has the teen met a deadly end?
Ahead of the grand reveal, executive producer Iain MacLeod teased there are some explosive scenes ahead.
He said: “This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling.
“It’s modern, really exciting and has some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama.
“The murder mystery around Lauren has had us all on the edge of our seats and the race against time across this week to solve it before Roy gets seriously hurt is so engrossing and cleverly plotted.
“It is also the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative – so you really won’t want to miss it, if you want to carry on trying to piece together this thrilling puzzle!”
In a schedule change, Coronation Street will air next week from Monday to Friday on ITV from 7:30pm.
