Coronation Street fans finally ‘work out’ Lauren’s killer as Max Turner slips up

Must read

Friday night’s episode of shed more light on the mystery surrounding missing teenager Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton).

Roy Cropper (David Neilson), a familiar face on the soap, has recently found himself in hot water, being arrested and charged as the prime suspect in Lauren’s alleged murder. Fans will remember that Lauren, a troubled young character, suddenly disappeared from the cobbles earlier this year, leaving her friend Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) worried when he discovered her flat unlocked and empty.

Lauren’s departure was not shown on screen, and it appears she didn’t inform anyone about her plans to leave Weatherfield, except for Roy. After reporting Lauren as missing, Roy has become a person of interest due to his kind-hearted nature.

This suspicion was further fuelled when he was seen innocently cleaning Lauren’s flat, leading some to believe he was guilty. Online detectives have since made his life difficult with a wave of internet abuse.

In the coming week, viewers will be taken aback by a sudden revelation – a new piece of evidence that uncovers the true identity of Lauren’s killer. Before this shocking disclosure, some fans believe they’ve already solved the mystery following a cryptic scene in Friday’s episode.

During the recent episode, David Platt (David J Shephard) was vacuuming when he stumbled upon a bag filled with blonde hair dye and makeup under Max Turner’s (Paddy Bever) bed.

Max became defensive when he found David with his belongings, eventually admitting they belonged to Lauren, though he used the past tense “were Lauren’s”, indicating he wanted to keep them.

Soap enthusiasts will recall Lauren’s dramatic entrance to Weatherfield in 2022, where she played a pivotal role in recruiting Max into a sinister far-right gang led by the notorious Griff (Michael Codron). Initially, there was a spark between Max and Lauren, but it quickly died out as the group’s heinous intentions came to light.

Lauren, whose father Reece (Joe McIntyre) was a key figure in the extremist faction, found herself entangled in their dark affairs alongside Max. Since then, she has made efforts to rehabilitate her life, only to vanish mysteriously while her father Reece, and the malevolent Griff were incarcerated following their recent comeback on Friday.

Social media has been abuzz with speculation after Friday’s enigmatic episode. One viewer tweeted: “I think Max has taken Lauren.. why is there blonde hair dye under Max’s bed? Lauren is blonde maybe dyed blonde? That could be a big clue for next week… @itvcorrie #Corrie

Another fan speculated: “So Max had a box of Lauren’s hair dye and it was under his bed? Interesting #Corrie #CoronationStreet @itvcorrie”, and yet another added: “Oh that’s suspicious Max #Corrie..” (sic)

“I believe it was Max he’s weird #corrie,” a fourth theorised while someone else suggested: “#corrie #coronationstreet I wouldn’t trust Max when you consider how mixed up his real father was.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
