I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! just delivered one of the most emotional moments of the series.
The ITV reality show has had viewers laughing over the bizarre conversations that have cropped up (e.g. A Reverend discussing ‘scissoring’ with a TikTok star), and squirming over the elevated Bushtucker trials. Now, they’ve showed their range by also getting fans blubbing.
The emotional suckerpunch was delivered by Coleen Rooney, who was reunited some of her family in the jungle.
Her mum Colette McLoughlin, and two youngest sons Kit, eight, and Cass, six, surprised her with a jungle visit. The family were very happy to be back together again, with Coleen crying happy tears.
Initially, Coleen thought it was just her mum who had been chosen to see her. ‘I don’t want you to leave me now!’ she said as they hugged.
However, moments later Kit and Cass ran in, and the scene became even more special.
‘I’m crying because I’m happy, because I’ve missed you so much!’ she told the young boys, who caught their mum up on their achievements. They both told Coleen they were doing well in football games, with Kit joking that Coleen ‘stinks’.
As their time together came to an end, the boys also became tearful. It was all too much for those tuning in at home, who couldn’t hold it together.
‘Coleen’s son crying has set me off again,’ wrote Loz on X. Tasha Louise added: ‘Nah why am I crying at Coleen seeing her mum and boys.’
‘Seeing Coleen hug her children really broke me,’ Of Her Platt account weighed in. Rhi shared a similar sentiment: ‘Coleen’s sons crying has broke me.’
Coleen’s older sons Kai, 15, and, Klay, 11, and husband Wayne Rooney, were not able to make the trip. Prior to her entry, Coleen explained that her eldest children wouldn’t be going to Australia as they wanted to continue with school and football.
Wayne, 39, is managing Plymouth Argyle so also couldn’t fly out, but he has been supporting his wife on social media.
Earlier this week Wayne wrote on X: ‘She’s done unbelievable and got a lot further than she thought she would. We’re proud of her and want to see her go all the way now! Please vote to keep Coleen in the jungle.’
The Rooney family reunion wasn’t the only one during last night’s episode.
McFly star Danny Jones got to see his wife Georgia and son Cooper, six, and once again, tears were flying.
‘That was the best surprise I think I’ve ever had in my life, just an amazing feeling,’ Danny said. When they had their final hug, his son said: ‘I don’t wanna let go!’
Oti Mabuse was also surprised by her husband Marius Lepure, who gifted the Strictly Come Dancing star a ring to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary.
On the other side of camp, Reverend Richard Coles had a heartwarming reunion with his brother Will.
Elsewhere, GK Barry met up with her mum Lorretta, and Alan Halsall saw his sibling Stephen. They got to see them again just hours later when they were evicted from the camp.
Tonight, the remaining lineup – Coleen, Danny, Oti, and Richard – will be facing the famous Celebrity Cyclone before the grand finale on Sunday.
I’m A Celebrity continues at 9:30pm on ITV1.
