Coleen Rooney has broken her silence on why she has signed up for I’m A Celebrity. The 38-year-old has confirmed she has travelled Down Under to take part in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge.

In a message with her Instagram followers, the mum-of-four has revealed why she agreed to be a part of the line-up for this upcoming season. She said: “They’ve asked me for so many years now.

‌

“I’ve always said no and put it off because the kids have been young and I’ve had quite a lot on. But this year, I thought, I quite fancy doing it.

“I would like to experience something different, do something for myself, meet new people. I’m looking forward to doing the trials.”

Coleen, who is married to former Everton FC striker Wayne Rooney, also set the record straight on reports she would be exempt from the Bushtucker trials.

She said: “There’s been a lot of news saying I can’t do trials because of certain illnesses, but I can confirm I can do every trial so I’m not excluded for any. That was just a load of rubbish.”

Coleen admitted she felt anxious about the prospect of leaving her four children for a number of weeks, but said extensive planning has been put in place to make sure everything is in place for them while she is away. She said: “I am looking forward to it.

‌

“Don’t get me wrong. I’m really anxious about leaving the kids. That’s been my biggest thing. I’ve come to terms with it. I’ve planned and prepped.

“I’ve got an army of family and friends all helping out with the kids so they are going to be fine. They are probably going to have a great time while I’m away.”

The ITV show will first air on Sunday, November 17, at 9pm with a 105-minute episode on the opening night. The show will be broadcast every night apart from Saturday until December 8 when the King or Queen of the jungle will be crowned.

‌

The official line up has been confirmed tonight as Coleen will be joined by stars including Oti Mabuse, Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall, and McFly’s Danny Jones.
