The City watchdog chairman is under fire for revealing a whistleblower’s identity.
Ashley Alder has been accused of breaking the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) code of conduct by reportedly breaching the confidentiality of a former employee who complained related to opaque hiring practices.
He forwarded emails that revealed their name, address or concerns, the Financial Times reported.

The worker was dismissed for alleged misconduct and lost an employment tribunal – but is appealing – and has accused the FCA of ‘incompetence’.
An FCA probe is looking at whether misconduct allegations should be formally internally investigated.
The regulator said: ‘This is an exceptional case. The senior independent director will review how it was handled.’
