Frasers Group has acquired the Frenchgate Shopping Centre, in Doncaster.

The 770,000 sq ft centre accommodates more than 120 stores with tenants including Boots, New Look, Next, Sainsbury’s and TK Maxx.

Its Shirebrook-based buyer has confirmed it intends to bring in brands from its own ecosystem, including Evans Cycles, GAME and USC. It also aims to triple the size of the centre’s existing Sports Direct store to more than 35,000 sq ft.

Chief executive of Frasers Group, Michael Murray, said: “The acquisition of Frenchgate Shopping Centre in Doncaster further demonstrates the group’s commitment to investing in bricks and mortar.

“Acquiring property in key trading locations to unlock new opportunities for our retail and leisure businesses, such as Sports Direct, Everlast Gyms, Frasers and FLANNELS, is a key priority.

“We are committed to reinventing retail and injecting new life into high streets across the UK to bring the very best brands, environment and experience to customers across the country.”

The group did not release the value of the deal, but the shopping centre had been listed for £35m on commercial property marketplace LoopNet.

Frasers Group was advised by CBRE on the Frenchgate acquisition.
