Chelsea join transfer battle for Sesko as clubs look for Osimhen alternatives

Chelsea are considering a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, talkSPORT understands. 

The Blues are exploring alternative options to Victor Osimhen due to a reluctance to meet the Napoli front-man’s £100million-plus release clause.

Osimhen has two years remaining on his Napoli deal, with him signing a year extension in December.

Chelsea are looking to add more firepower up front under new boss Enzo Maresca.

Current striker Nicolas Jackson bagged 17 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions this season, with youngster Cole Palmer being the top scorer with 25 goals in 45 games.

Arsenal target Sesko, who will be the star of the Slovenian squad to face England at the Euros, has a release clause of £56million.

talkSPORT understands Arsenal have made him their top target.

The Gunners have scouting him extensively, with Mikel Arteta and co keen to replace Eddie Nketiah and provide competition for Kai Havertz.

They were in attendance for Leipzig’s final Bundesliga game which saw Sesko score in a 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Manchester United are also monitoring the 21-year-old, who has been a long term target for the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford in 2022.

However, he joined BR Leipzig from RB Salzburg last summer instead after agreeing a deal in 2022.

Since moving to Germany, Sesko has banged in 18 goals in 42 games in all competitions in a dazzling debut season.
