Channel 5 has announced a major rebrand including a new name and streaming model.

To add to the overhaul, the channel, which will now go simply by 5, has promised viewers the return of two beloved showsĀ 

The UK TV channel and its streamer counterpart, My5 will be combined into one streamlined model in a move similar to rival Channel 4.Ā 

Bosses are no doubt hoping to capitalise on the increased viewing after numbers were boosted by the launch of My5.Ā 

Channel 5 will continue to operate as a traditional ad-supported channel but will feature more shows from the likes of MTV, CBS and Comedy Central, all owned by Paramount, who has taken over the the network.Ā

Ben Frow, Paramount UK’s Chief Content Officer, who commissions for Channel 5 and Paramount+ UK, told Deadline that the success of Channel 5 shows on streaming giant Netflix shows they still have their finger on the pulse.Ā 

The figures show ‘there’s a huge appetite for [Channel 5] content in the streaming world.’Ā 

And to make the most of the the interest in Channel 5, as part of their rebrand, bosses have promised the return of fan favourites All Creatures Great and Small and Dalgliesh.

All Creatures Great and Small has become a staple in the Channel 5 schedule and fans are eagerly awaiting the release date announcement which is expected in the coming weeks.

Viewers will be pleased to hear that Callum Woodhouse will be reprising his role as Tristan Farnon,Ā Siegfried’s (Samuel West) mischievous brother who signed up to serve in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.

The release date for the third series of Dalgliesh has also not been officially announced, but Bertie Carvel will return to the titular role.Ā 

Season three is based on the book Cover Her Face, which was PD James’ first ever Dalgliesh novel.Ā

Last year Channel 4 rebranded it’s All4 streaming services to simply Channel 4 while ITV changed its Hub platform to ITVX and increased its budget.

Sarah Rose, President of Channel 5 and UK Regional Lead, Paramount, said: ‘We have seen record growth for My5 viewing over the last three years and, as more of our audience discover streaming, we think it’s the right time to have a much closer relationship between our linear and streaming services.Ā 

‘The new exciting content and FAST channels that we’ll be offering on 5 from 2025 will build on the amazing array of homegrown Channel 5 hits we know our audience already love.’Ā
